FAQ: Will the CRG-15 rifle grip fit on my rifle?
First off, please excuse this blogging platform and/or advertising and related stories at the bottom. This is an experiment and a quick way to create this page to answer your question. WORK IN PROGRESS
There are a ton of variations of rifles that use AR-15 parts, especially the grip. Our grip will fit most any rifle that is designed to use an AR-15 grip, but some rifles won’t give you the room needed to wrap your thumb around either due to the gun design, or due to the stock that the rifle came with. If the latter is the case, then the stock can easily be changed to provide room for your thumb… although that is an extra step, it is easy to do. Below are common rifles that we often get questions on about our grips fitting. Our grip will fit these rifles as well as most AR-15 rifles (some custom billet machined lower receivers may require modifying the grip slightly to fit). If you don’t see your exact rifle below, then you may be able to figure out if it is compatible buy reading more and see how your rifle compares. We also plan to add to this article as we learn more.
Let’s look at some details and things to consider on each of these rifles below when using our grip.
The Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Sport II California is a featureless rifle that includes a cheap fin grip and an M4 style adjustable stock that has been fixed in place. This is a good inexpensive rifle, and probably the most common one we get compatibly questions about. This rifle is fully compatible with our grip and very easy to change to our grip. It also already has a barrel thread protector, but if you would like to upgrade, we offer some nice ones, as well as muzzle brakes.
The Ruger AR556 California comes with a Juggernaut Tactical fixed magazine kit installed. This rifle would take a bit more effort to convert to featureless using our grip, but still doable. The JT push button takedown pin would need to be replaced with a milspec takedown pin, and the bolt catch would also need to be replaced with a milspec bolt catch. The flash hider would need to be replaced with a non-flash-hiding muzzle device such as a thread protector or a muzzle brake. The stock is a Magpul MOE adjustable stock, so it can be fixed in place with a paperclip (see video at bottom of article).
All Sig M400 lower receivers have QD mounts on the sides near the buffer end plate. These look like they would get in the way of your thumb while using our grip, but it is not an issue. The Tread CA model includes a Mission First Tactical fin grip. This grip can be easily replaced with our grip. The stock is already fixed in place and the muzzle device is already CA featureless compliant.
As stated above, the Sig M400 lower receivers have QD mounts on the sides near the buffer end plate, but they are not an issue with our grip. This is a non-CA rifle, so the stock needs to be fixed in place, and the flash hider removed and replaced with a compliant muzzle device such as a thread protector or a muzzle brake. The stock is a Magpul MOE adjustable stock, so it can be fixed in place with a paperclip (see video at bottom of article).
The Springfield Saint Victor AR-15 California version is also compatible, but if you want to benefit from the “thumb wrap around” or “thumb-over” hold of our grip, the stock will need to be changed, or modified. Rifles with fixed stocks such as an A2 fixed stock, an ACE Skeleton stock, or this Magpul MOE fixed stock do not allow enough room for your thumb to wrap around the grip, and you would need to use the “cradle hold” with your thumb to the side. Our grip is much more comfortable with this style of hold than fin grips are. This is because more of your fingers can support the weight of the back of the rifle as opposed to all the weight being on your middle finger. Most Magpul adjustable stocks can be fixed in place with a paperclip (see video at bottom of article).
